[미주중앙일보] “맞춤형 RPO 인재 발굴… 글로벌 기업 다시 찾아” [UIBS]

UIBS는 EVERLIGHT 프로젝트에서 발굴 인원 전원이 최종 합격하는 이례적인 성과를 거두며, 맞춤형 인재 선발 프로세스의 완성도를 입증했다. 또한 국내 대표 건설사 자이의 미국 시장 진출 초기 단계부터 포지션 정의와 후보자 발굴, 인터뷰, 최종 채용까지 전 과정을 맡아 모든 포지션을 성공적으로 채용 완료했다.

고객사가 다시 찾는 이유: 산업 이해 + 데이터 기반 컨설팅
UIBS는 단순 채용 지원을 넘어 산업에 대한 깊은 이해를 바탕으로 한 컨설팅 기반 RPO를 제공하고 있다. 엔지니어링·반도체·건설 분야의 최신 트렌드를 반영하고, 기업이 필요로 하는 스킬셋과 시장 상황을 함께 고려한 채용 전략을 제시한다. 실제로 UIBS는 LG 화학의 Columbus Project에 Mechanical Contractor로 참여하며 엔지니어링 및 건설 분야 인재 모집을 직접 지원하고 있다. 이러한 프로젝트 경험은 해당 직군 채용에 대한 이해를 높여 고객사 신뢰를 확보하는 중요한 기반이 되고 있다.

UIBS, 테네시주 LG 양극재 공장 건설 참여 (중앙일보)

스태핑 및 건설 서비스 기업 UIBS(본사: 사우스캐롤라이나)가 LG의 신규 32억 달러 규모 양극재 제조 공장 프로젝트에 ‘미캐니컬 계약자(Mechanical Contractor)’로 참여한다. LG 공장은 미국 내 최대 규모 양극재 생산시설로, 총 860개의 신규 일자리를 창출하며, 이 중 약 200개는 연봉 10만 달러 이상 수준이 될 전망이다. 이 프로젝트는 미국 내 전기차 공급망 강화를 위한 핵심 거점으로 평가된다.

미캐니컬 계약자(Mechanical Contractor)는 건물이나 시설의 기계 시스템, 즉 냉난방·환기·공조(HVAC)·배관·냉동 시스템 등의 설치·유지보수·수리를 전문으로 하는 계약자 또는 전문가를 의미하는데, UIBS는 이번 프로젝트 참여로 직업 창출은 물론 경제 발전에 일익을 담당할 것으로 기대된다.

UIBS는 “2020년 설립된 UIBS는 불과 4년 만에 1000명 이상 채용, 40개사 이상 글로벌 파트너 협력을 통해 급성장해왔는데, LG·삼성 등 세계적 선도 기업들과 협업하며 쌓아온 경험을 기반으로 이번 대규모 프로젝트에 참여하게 됐다”며 “프로젝트 수행 과정에서 예산 관리·계약 협상·일정 관리·하도급 관리·안전 규정 준수·프로젝트 보고 등 엔드 투 엔드(end-to-end) 건설 및 엔지니어링 서비스를 제공하며, 안정성을 갖춘 고품질의 시공을 보장한다”고 밝혔다.

또 UIBS는 “특히 UIBS Engineering & Construction(E&C) 부문은 General Contractor·MEP 시공·공사 관리·엔지니어링 & 설계까지 아우르며, 대규모 플랜트부터 첨단 제조시설까지 다양한 프로젝트를 수행해왔다”며 “세부 서비스에는 예산 수립 및 분석, 계약 협상, 공정 관리 및 일정 조율, 하도급 관리, 안전 규정 준수, 정밀 시공 리포트 제공이 포함된다”고 설명했다.

UIBS는 현재 약 30개의 하청업체(subcontractor)와 협업하며 프로젝트를 수행 중인데, 미국에서는 Nordfab·HP Products·Furguson·RigupATL·Satellite 등과, 한국에서는 카리스·회명워터젠·동헌기업·한일테크 등 주요 공급사와 협력하고 있다. LG 양극재 제조 공장 건설에는 현재 약 80명의 작업자가 덕트, 배관·내장패널 설치에 투입돼 있으며, 지난 두 달간 100만 달러 이상의 내장공사가 완료됐다. 또한 4명의 엔지니어가 직접 도면 작업을 수행하고 있고, SK 에코엔지니어링 출신 강동일 부장이 현장 소장으로, 삼성엔지니어링 출신 김광원 차장이 공무팀장으로 프로젝트를 총괄하고 있다.

UIBS는 “우리 회사는 2020년 설립 직후 1800만 달러 규모 프로젝트의 CM사로 참여하여 설계·시공·CO 후 장비 시운전까지 수행한 바 있으며, 현재 증축 협의도 진행 중”이라며 “설립 이래로 건설 현장에서 0건의 안전사고를 기록해오고 있고, 모든 직원이 OSHA 기준을 충분히 이해하고 안전하게 근무할 수 있도록, 입사와 동시에 OSHA 자격증을 취득할 수 있게 지원한다”고 강조했다.
